Our fire protection approach on the Akansu Grup project

At industrial facilities that combine different production and storage functions, fire risk is not confined to a single point; it spreads from indoor usage areas to the open yard. Smoke and heat building up in enclosed spaces increase losses unless response time is kept short, while materials stored outdoors and vehicle traffic can make it harder for response crews to reach the fire. Multi-function facilities therefore need a water-based protection infrastructure that is always ready, both inside and outside.

At Akansu Group facilities, outdoor protection is provided by the fire hydrant system, while response points inside the buildings are served by fire hose cabinets. The continuity of the flow and pressure the system requires is supplied through the fire pump set, so indoor and outdoor response lines were designed as a single whole fed from the same water source.

Pressure tests of the hydrant and cabinet lines and periodic commissioning checks of the pump set ensure the system performs the same way all year. In projects subject to fire department approval, the accessibility and periodic maintenance of the fire hose cabinet line should be inspected regularly so no time is lost in a real response.
