Our fire protection approach on the GMM project

In metal processing facilities, sparks from welding and cutting stations combine with cutting fluid and oil residue to create a fast ignition risk. Metal shavings and oily rags on the production line can let a small spark grow quickly. Narrow aisles and heavy equipment layouts make it essential that first response happens from fast, accessible points.

At the GMM Makine facility, fire hose cabinets, a hydrant line and a fire pump set were commissioned together against this risk. In enclosed production areas the fire hose cabinets serve as the staff's first-response point, while the hydrant network around the site gives the fire department strong external water supply. The flow and pressure both lines need are delivered without interruption by the fire pump set and water tank group.

The system was designed and commissioned without halting production, and completed with fire department approval. Under a periodic maintenance contract covering BYKHY (Turkish Fire Protection Regulation) requirements, the pump set and line pressure are tested regularly. The fire hydrant line, which directly determines the facility's response speed, is the priority item in these checks.
