Our fire protection approach on the Bakmaksan project
On wood processing lines, chips and dust released during cutting and shaping remain suspended in the workspace air and create a flammable environment. A fire starting where this dust accumulates along the production line can travel quickly between machines and line equipment. In work areas with this much combustible material, automatic response is expected to engage before manual systems.
At the Bakmaksan Ahşap facility, active fire protection systems were installed to suit work areas with a high concentration of combustible material. The sprinkler installation provides automatic response, while fire hose cabinets and hydrant points support manual response. The infrastructure, fed by a pump set and water tank, is completed with smoke removal, early fire detection, and safe exit provisions.
Regular cleaning of dust buildup around the cutting line and periodic inspection of sprinkler heads keep the system, approved by the fire department, at its design performance. The maintenance schedule for the sprinkler system is carried out without stopping production.
