Our fire protection approach on the Cihanpan project

At wood processing facilities, drying kilns expose the material to a constant heat source to reduce moisture, making the area around the kiln one of the hottest and therefore riskiest zones of the facility. Chips and dust accumulated in or around the kiln can ignite easily when exposed to high temperature. The suppression scope of drying sections should therefore be designed more strictly than the rest of the production line.

At the Cihanpan Ahşap factory, an active fire protection infrastructure suited to wood production processes was installed. Production areas gained response capacity through a sprinkler system and fire hose cabinets, and hydrant points were made accessible outdoors. A pump set and water tank sustain the fire line, while smoke venting, alarm, and signage systems improved safe evacuation conditions.

Periodically monitoring temperature and dust buildup around the drying kilns is necessary for the sprinkler system to deliver the expected performance in this special zone. Regular testing of the sprinkler system under the maintenance contract safeguards the continuity of fire department approval.
