Our fire protection approach on the Başyazıcıoğlu Bamen Tekstil project
Fiber processed on weaving and knitting lines is released into the air as fine dust and lint particles during production; these particles can accumulate on machines and in ventilation ducts and form a flammable layer. Because of the structure of textile fibers, ignited fiber dust lets flame spread faster than normal. This is the main reason early detection and automatic suppression are more critical in textile production than in other sectors.
At the Bamen Textile factory, several layers of safety were combined to protect production and stock areas against fire risk. The sprinkler installation provides automatic response to a fire, while fire hose cabinets and hydrants serve as supporting response points. Smoke control, detection, and emergency evacuation systems were integrated into the pump-and-tank infrastructure for facility-wide protection.
Regular cleaning around machines where fiber dust accumulates and periodic checks of detection sensors ensure the sprinkler system engages early. For this reason, regular testing of the detection and alarm infrastructure under a maintenance contract is a priority.
