Our fire protection approach on the Bemfil Mensucat project
In yarn production, raw material warehouses are areas where bobbins and fiber bales are stacked at high density. These stacks both create a large fire load and, because of the gaps between them, provide an environment in which flame can advance quickly. Noticing a fire that starts in the raw material warehouse before it reaches the production line is a decisive factor for overall facility safety.
At the Bemfil Yarn facilities, the goal was early detection and containment of fires in production and storage areas holding textile raw materials. The sprinkler system, fire hose cabinets, and perimeter hydrants provide multiple response options. A water tank and pump set feed the system, while smoke venting, signage, and alarm infrastructure support safe evacuation.
Arranging the stacks in the raw material warehouse to suit the sprinkler coverage area and access distances is a point inspected under the periodic maintenance contract. Regular testing of the sprinkler system safeguards the continuity of fire department approval.
