Our fire protection approach on the Basel Mobilya project

In furniture manufacturing, finished-goods warehouses are dense areas where different models are stacked side by side before shipment. A fire starting in these stacks, accompanied by packaging material, can spread faster than on the production line because there is more airflow and more contact between combustible surfaces. The suppression scope of finished-goods warehouses should therefore be planned with the same rigor as production areas.

Fire safety at the Basel Mobilya production facility was addressed through mutually supporting suppression, response, and evacuation systems. Sprinkler and fire hose cabinet infrastructure serves the production areas, while a hydrant line was built around the site. The fire pump set and water tank ensure uninterrupted supply, with the scope extended through smoke venting, alarm, and emergency exit solutions.

Keeping the stack layout in finished-goods warehouses compatible with the sprinkler coverage area is checked regularly under the periodic maintenance contract. The accessibility of the fire hose cabinet system is also part of these inspections.
