Our fire protection approach on the Berre Ambalaj project
Adhesives and printing solvents used on corrugated board and packaging production lines can form flammable vapor in sections where heat is applied. If this vapor meets a heat source, it can cause a rapid flash fire on the production line and easily spread to the cardboard stock around it. Because packaging material itself carries a high fire load, every point on the production line must be protected with the same rigor.
At Berre Ambalaj production areas, effective protection solutions were put in place against the high fire load that packaging materials can create. The automatic sprinkler network and indoor fire hose cabinets were planned together with the outdoor hydrant installation. Alongside the fire water reserve and pumping infrastructure, smoke venting, early warning, and emergency exit systems complete the safety chain.
Keeping sprinkler coverage in the adhesive and printing sections up to date as the production line changes is an important part of the periodic maintenance contract. Regular commissioning tests of the sprinkler system safeguard the continuity of fire department approval.
