Our fire protection approach on the Doruk Kağıt project
In paper production, raw material and finished roll warehouses hold large volumes of tall-stacked material, making them the sections of the facility with the highest fire load. The tight, wide structure of roll stacks can let a fire smolder internally for a long time and make outside response difficult. This characteristic means automatic suppression plays a more decisive role than manual response in large paper warehouses.
At the Doruk Kağıt 2, 3, and 4 facilities, comprehensive protection work was carried out against the fire load from paper production and storage. The sprinkler installation provides automatic response across large production areas, while fire hose cabinets and the hydrant network form the supporting response infrastructure. A tank-and-pump set, smoke venting systems, early detection, and emergency exit solutions raised the facilities' safety level.
Keeping sprinkler heads in roll storage areas compatible with stack height is inspected regularly under the periodic maintenance contract. Testing the sprinkler system is necessary for the continuity of fire department approval.
