Our fire protection approach on the Gazioğlu Ambalaj project
In packaging production, areas where palletized products are stored before shipment carry a high fire load because cardboard and plastic packaging material sit together. Dense stacking in these areas can allow a fire to feed on the gaps between pallets and grow quickly. Pre-shipment stock must therefore be protected at the same level of safety as the production line.
At the Gazioğlu Ambalaj factory, complementary safety systems were commissioned to protect production and storage areas against fire. The sprinkler installation automates the first response, while fire hose cabinets and hydrants offer different access points. The fire water reserve and pressurization set are supported by smoke venting, detection and alarm, and safe exit provisions.
Periodic testing of detection sensors in pre-shipment stock areas ensures a fire is noticed at an early stage. In this project, approved by the fire department, regular inspection of the detection and alarm infrastructure under the maintenance contract is recommended.
