Our fire protection approach on the Ceylan Madeni Yağlar project
At lubricant production and storage facilities, tank and filling areas holding petroleum-derived liquids are highly flammable. Even a small leak of these liquids can turn into a fire spreading rapidly over a wide surface when it meets a heat source. The floor slope and drainage channels of liquid storage areas are also an important factor in the direction fuel spreads during a fire.
At the Ceylan Madeni Yağlar facility, fire safety for production and storage areas was addressed holistically, taking the facility's operating characteristics into account. Sprinkler and fire hose cabinet installations support indoor protection, and a fire hydrant line serves the outdoor areas. The fire water infrastructure, fed by a pump set and tank, was made operational together with detection, smoke control, and emergency evacuation solutions.
Periodic inspection of the accessibility of hydrant points in filling and storage areas ensures the system, approved by the fire department, works without problems in an emergency. Regular testing of the fire hydrant system under the maintenance contract is therefore important.
