Our fire protection approach on the Kaliteks project

In felt production, fiber dust creates an environment that ignites far faster than ordinary materials when suspended in the air. Continuous motion along the production line can let a spark spread across a wide area within seconds. In such facilities, fires that grow faster than people can respond require an automatic, targeted solution.

At the Kaliteks Keçe facility, automatic fire suppression robots were installed to meet this need. Positioned according to the layout of the production floor, the robots detect a fire at its early stage and respond directly, limiting the risk of spread. The system continuously monitors different points of the large production line and provides effective protection even in areas that conventional fixed suppression points cannot reach.

The system was commissioned without stopping the production flow and engineered in line with the fire department approval process. Under a periodic maintenance contract covering BYKHY (Turkish Fire Protection Regulation) requirements, the robots' detection sensitivity and response performance are tested regularly. The fire suppression robot installation, the backbone of the facility's automatic protection, is a priority in these checks.
