Our fire protection approach on the Kilim Mobilya project
In production facilities, electrical panels are critical points that run under constant load and carry a short-circuit fire risk when a fault occurs. A fire inside a panel builds heat quickly because of the small, enclosed volume and raises the risk of damage to nearby sensitive equipment. Since water-based suppression is unsuitable for the equipment in these areas, a different approach is needed.
At the Kilim Mobilya production facility, an in-panel gas-based (clean agent) suppression system was installed specifically for this risk. The moment a fire is detected inside a panel, the system activates automatically and directs the extinguishing gas straight into the affected volume. This shortens response time and greatly limits the chance of fire spreading from the panel to surrounding sections.
The installation was completed as a project planned without stopping the production line and approved by the fire department. The periodic maintenance contract covering BYKHY (Turkish Fire Protection Regulation) requirements includes regular checks of gas fill level and detection sensitivity. The electrical panel suppression system, which directly protects sensitive equipment, is at the center of this maintenance program.
