Our fire protection approach on the Özreels project
In wooden reel and spool manufacturing, areas where processed and semi-finished products are stored carry a high fire load because the wood is stacked neatly and tightly. A fire that starts in these storage areas can grow quickly with airflow between the stacks. Having the production line and storage area together requires the protection system to cover both zones with equal strength.
At the Özreels Ahşap production facility, the sprinkler network, fire hose cabinets and hydrant line were configured to meet different response needs. Fire water supply is provided through the pump set and tank, while the safety infrastructure was completed with smoke ventilation, detection and emergency exit systems against the heavy fire load in the product storage areas.
The installation was completed with fire department approval, on an installation schedule planned without disrupting the production and shipping program. The system is inspected regularly under a periodic maintenance contract aligned with BYKHY (Turkish Fire Protection Regulation). The mechanical systems that secure the fire water supply are a priority in these checks.
