Our fire protection approach on the Ravago project

Granular and liquid products stored at polymer raw material and distribution facilities create a high fire load; a small spark in a large stock area can quickly escalate into a major fire. In the petrochemical sector, warehouses and filling lines handling flammable liquids are special-risk zones where standard water-based suppression alone is not enough. Transformer and electrical panel rooms are a separate hazard group: a fault there can damage equipment and halt production for a long time.

At the Ravago facility, a foam sprinkler system was commissioned against these risks; the foam forms an oxygen barrier over the surface of flammable liquids and cuts off the fuel supply to the flame. The fire hydrant network and hydrant hose cabinets provide wide-area protection and fast manual response. The gas-based suppression system selected for critical transformer and panel rooms discharges without damaging sensitive electronic equipment, making it the right choice where water-based systems are unsuitable.

Installation was planned around ongoing production, backed by hydraulic calculations to international standards, and completed with fire department approval. The project is now inspected regularly under a periodic maintenance contract. Periodic testing and refill checks of the gas-based suppression systems in critical rooms are essential to ensure the system delivers the expected performance when it is needed.
