Our fire protection approach on the Sunpa project
In wood production, dust and chips from cutting and processing stations create an easily ignitable environment when not properly collected. Material that accumulates in different sections of the production line can let a spark grow quickly and jump to neighboring areas. Keeping this risk under continuous control directly affects early response capability.
At the Sunpa Ahşap facility, different response points were created with a sprinkler system, fire hose cabinets and outdoor hydrants. The fire pump set and water tank meet fire water demand, while smoke vents, alarm and evacuation signage solutions form the complementary elements of the system, protecting against the risk on the chip-heavy production line.
The installation was completed with fire department approval, on an installation process planned without disrupting the production schedule. The system is tested regularly under a periodic maintenance contract aligned with BYKHY (Turkish Fire Protection Regulation). The fire hydrant line, which strengthens the outdoor response network, is a priority in these checks.
