Our fire protection approach on the UMT Ahşap project
At wood production sites, lumber and board stock held in the raw material warehouse carries a high fire load per volume and, being dried material, ignites easily. The warehouse's location close to the production line can let a fire that starts in one section jump to the other in a short time. Early response conditions must be provided in both areas.
At the UMT Ahşap production sites, an automatic sprinkler network is supported by fire hose cabinets, while the hydrant line around the site provides the infrastructure needed for outside response. The fire pump set and water tank are accompanied by smoke control, early detection and emergency exit systems, extending the protection scope against the dense material stock in the raw material warehouse.
The system was commissioned with fire department approval on an installation process planned without disrupting the production schedule. It is tested regularly under a periodic maintenance contract aligned with BYKHY (Turkish Fire Protection Regulation). The evacuation systems that support employees' safe exit are a priority in these checks.
